If you won the lottery, what would you do? Collect your money, put a bunch in savings to start accuring massive interest, and splurge some? Or how about keep it a secret, not collect, and not gain interest?
Most people can’t wait to claim their lottery winnings, but when Peter Dushop realized he hit the jackpot last August he didn’t rush out to claim his $3.6-million prize.
Instead, the 24-year-old realtor from Maple Ridge, B.C., put the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket in a safety deposit box and only told his mom about the win.
[...]All the patient waiting did come at a cost to Dushop — he lost a chance to collect about $100,000 in interest. But he said it was worth taking the time to really think about how it would change his life.

Not only did this would-be restaurant robber fail, he also left a tip.
The robber approached the counter and ordered two doughnuts. The robber opened his purse and handed the worker a $5 bill, the report said. As the employee opened the cash register, the robber pulled a handgun from the purse and mumbled something she couldn’t understand, the report said. The employee started screaming for someone to call 911.
The robber fled without trying to take any money from the register. He got away, but he left behind the $5 as well as the doughnuts, according to the report. The case is under investigation, according to Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
